In the not-too-distant past, contact lenses were only available for people with easy-to-match prescriptions. What are Multifocal Contacts?
Multifocal contact lens is a catch-all term for contact lenses with more than one power, including bifocal contacts. In addition to segmented bifocal contact lenses, multifocal contacts come in concentric and aspheric vision designs. Concentric multifocal contact lenses contain the power for seeing distant objects in the center of the lens, surrounded by concentric rings of near and distance powers. Aspheric multifocal contact lenses feature a gradual change in power from far to near, with no visible lines in the lenses.
