What Are The Types Of Home Drug Tests?

Detecting the use of certain substances can be done from the privacy of your home when required for a multitude of reasons and provide varying levels of reliable results. Some employers, legal entities, or family members may request regular drug testing, and providing this peace of mind from the comfort of your home or office is often more preferable than going to a clinic. There are 5 standard types of drug tests, urine, hair, blood, saliva, and sweat, with results available at home or by sending test samples to a laboratory. At-home urine tests are most common and the least expensive, though home hair drug tests may cover a wider variety of substances with which to test for.

How Do Home Drug Tests Work?

When you purchase your home drug test from CVS, you will be required to provide a sample with which to test upon. Urine can be collected with "cheat proof" cups, while hair follicle testing cannot be done on a single strand of hair, typically requiring a collection of hairs about 1.5 inches in length and must be sent away for results. At-home breathalyzers allow for immediate alcohol testing anywhere you deem necessary.

How Do Home Alcohol Tests Work?

Breathalyzers and hair follicle testing allow for at-home testing of alcohol, each with different requirements and delivering results that go back to varying times. Breathalyzers detect present levels of intoxication from a person's breath, while hair follicle testing can showcase whether someone has imbibed sometimes up to 90 days and beyond.
