    Inconsistent readings

I bought this product to use on my 2 month old, as it had the shorter tip option. It gave inconsistent readings, all of which were off from readings taken at Pediatrician's office by 3-5 degrees. Did not work for us.

    Should be removed from stores

I needed a thermometer to measure my baby's temperature rectally. I purchased and returned 4 of these at 2 different CVS stores before finding one that worked... and that one only worked once before dying. The one time that it worked, it flashed green for a tenth of a second before going kaput. Before returning the first one, I attempted to buy a replacement battery from the CVS at which I purchased the thermometer. They did not carry the battery for the thermometer. There really is no excuse to sell such a faulty product with such an important use. I will no longer be purchasing CVS brand products.

    Excellent

I have not seen a thermometer like this before. It's extremely useful to be able to take rectal, oral and axillary temperatures. I use this thermometer rectally and axillary (armpit) with my baby. At 5 weeks old, his temperature read 100.8 so we rushed to the pediatrician who confirmed the accurate reading and sent us to the ER. There they monitored his temperature with their own rectal and axillary thermometers. The readings were consistent the readings I got from this CVS thermometer. The thermometer is flexible and soft. The rectal part is short and cannot be inserted too far. The axillary attachment is wide and flat so it fits in my baby's armpit very easily.

    Good idea in Theory

Bought this thermometer while on vacation, had a very very sick 5 month old. First one I bought and opened in parking lot, didn't even turn on. Went right back into store to exchanged it for a new one, double checked to make sure it worked. It did, so we headed toward home. Worked really well on 12 hour drive home. Got home and put it away. 14 days later needed it for child #4. It was DEAD! I have now been to 6 stores to find the correct battery. No one has it in stock including CVS!!! Why would you sell a thermometer with your name on it and not carry the battery that it uses!!!??!! I have ordered 6 of these batteries on Amazon for $1.16 a pair and free shipping. Not sure if they will work. We will see. I still have to go out and buy a thermometer to use for today though. One of the stores I tried was a jewelry store, they tried a 1220, the battery that was in it was a 1225. It would beep, but the display wouldn't come on. Not sure if I have a defunct thermometer or a battery problem. Going to try to find the instructions that came with it to see what kind of warranty it has. Surely it should be expected to last longer than 30 days! If they maybe make a new one, that uses a more powerful battery I think it would be a great value, and a great product. love having the different tips, my older kids are always afraid that I'm using the baby's "butt" thermometer in their mouths. With this there is no "guessing" (yes I've tried writing on other thermometers with sharpies, but it never stays on) This is good in theory, but I think it needs a few more tries before they get it right. Iron out the power issues or just make it rechargeable and you'll be good.

Dead battery - MORE THAN ONCE!

Bought this when my son was sick; first one was so dead it wouldn't even turn on. Drove back to the store and exchanged it for another; that one turned on, only to flash the dead battery light. I immediately returned it. If I can't even get one to turn on, how is it supposed to tell me what my son's temperature is???

    Good one

After trying a couple of other thermometers, I bought this one for my baby. We have used only the rectal extension. It is easy to use and clean. It is surely accurate. The only disadvantage is the battery that died in 5 months! I yet have to find a matching battery and change.

    Horrible

I bought this thermometer when my daughter was sick and took her temp with it. It showed 97.1 I knew this could not be right so I took my own and it gave me 97.1. If I change the tips it will give me a different temp but usually somewhere around 96 or 97. It does not take an accurate temp with any of the tips.
